Cost of Playing
We are very fortunate to be sponsored by SD Ireland and the Ireland Family. They contribute money each year to help keep the costs down for players and maintain operation of the program year-round. On top of this, we try our best to keep the costs as minimal as possible, however fundraising cannot include the costs for umpires, equipment, insurance, uniforms, etc.
While we will not know the exact cost until early 2020, players fees have stayed steady or have decreased over the last three years, $900 for returning players, and $1100 for new players. This fee includes:
A) 3 Undershirts (Black, Green, Yellow), 2 Pairs of Pants (White and Grey), 2 Pairs of Socks (Yellow and Black), 2 Pairs of Hats (Yellow and Black), and a helmet.
B) Guaranteed Roster Spot
C) Player Registration and Insurance

Fundraising
To help relieve the financial burden of the season, the team participates in a series of fundraisers. In the past, we have partaken in Calcutta’s and raffles. The most efficient fundraiser for our team has been our Banner Sales and Calcutta. The goal for fundraising is to cover all hotel costs for players, and whatever is left over will go towards program improvements.
Scholarships
The Vermont State Legion Committee offers baseball players scholarships that can be no more than $400. Thanks to Diamond Baseballs, players can also earn $1,000 scholarships, and if the requirements fit, can rack in anywhere between $5,000 and $40,000.
Starting in 2020, SDI will have two $150 scholarships exclusively for SDI players.
